Help for the tough times

Help for the Tough Times provides a quick guide to four New Zealand websites that were especially designed to support teenagers to help them find information that can help them when they are feeling stressed, anxious or out of their depth.

The pocket guide was co-designed for teens by teens. The Health Promotion Agency worked with two classes of Year 12 students who advised on the guide’s text, format, and design.

Staff notices

Download designs to be inserted into staff notices to introduce them or remind them of the sites that can support teens.


Schools can use the following powerpoint presentation for staff induction or staff-only training days to introduce them to the resources and websites, and adapt it to introduce the staff to your school's procedures.

The free teen guides are available for secondary schools and youth services to order by emailing toughtimes@hpa.org.nz

  • Service/school name
  • Service/school courier address
  • Type of resource required and quantity.

Resources are distributed at the beginning and middle of each month.
