Our breast service is an outpatient service that looks after people with disorders ranging from breast cancers that require immediate surgery to non-cancerous conditions such as:
- changes in the breast tissue that cause it to become dense or lumpy (fibrocystic disease)
- benign tumours of the breast (fibroadenomas)
- fluid-filled sacs (cysts)

Assessment
When you come in for an appointment, we will assess your symptoms, often taking a mammogram or ultrasound scan.
Sometimes, we will need to remove of a small amount of tissue from the breast for examination under a microscope.
Treatment
Surgeons on our team will work with you if you require surgery or treatment for breast cancer.
However, many breast conditions do not require surgery and we will work with other specialists to find the best treatment plan for you.
