2020 Health and Lifestyles Survey Methodology Report

17 Dec 2021

The Health and Lifestyles Survey (HLS) is a biennial monitor of the health behaviour and attitudes of New Zealand adults aged 16 years and over, first carried out in 2008. The HLS uses face-to-face interviews to collect information relating to Te Hiringa Hauora programme areas of alcohol, tobacco control, sun safety, minimising gambling harm, nutrition, and mental wellbeing. This report provides detail on the methodology used for the 2020 HLS.

You can find the HLS 2020 questionnaire showcards here and the 2020 Health and Lifestyles Survey Questionnaire here. You can also view findings from the HLS on our online data explorer Kupe here.
