HPA leads and delivers innovative, high-quality and cost-effective programmes to help with the following areas:
HPA provides information, advice, research and resources to help prevent and reduce alcohol-related harm and inspire New Zealanders to make better decisions about drinking alcohol.
HPA looks after HealthEd (www.healthed.govt.nz), an online catalogue of over 500 consumer-focused and preventative health resources covering 44 topic areas in a range of formats. These free resources support people to make informed health decisions, stay well and lead better lives.
HPA supports the Ministry of Health’s immunisation programme that protects New Zealanders from preventable diseases. Our marketing and communication activities promote high rates of immunisation.
HPA supports communities and individuals to recognise, address and reduce the impact of depression and anxiety. Our aspiration is for a fully inclusive New Zealand society that respects the contribution of people with mental illness.
HPA would like all New Zealanders to experience less gambling related harm. People are encouraged to check whether their gambling is okay and get help early.
HPA supports New Zealand families to choose and prepare healthy foods and inspires families to enjoy being active together.
HPA’s goal is to reduce the incidence and impact of skin cancer in New Zealand, and we work to encourage SunSmart behaviours in our community.
HPA is working towards a Smokefree New Zealand by 2025. Our work contributes to this goal through our mass media campaigns, community projects, information, and resources. So that more people are smokefree and protected from the harm of tobacco.
HPA has developed a hub to bring together New Zealand examples, practical ideas, tools and resources for people who are leading wellbeing action in New Zealand workplaces.
