Retinal screening is a free service funded by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora.
It is different from a normal eye check for glasses. Photos are taken of your eyes to check the health of the retina at the back of your eyes.
At your screening check, drops will be put into your eyes to enlarge the pupils. This might make your vision blurry for a short time.
You should not drive while your vision is blurry. If possible, arrange for someone to drive you home.
The appointment may take 20 to 30 minutes.
The results of the screening test will be sent to your healthcare provider who will let you know your result.
